The American Express Platinum card is no doubt our favorite card when it comes to lounge benefits – and they’ve just added a few more to the collection
American Express Platinum card holders now have access to the Escape Lounges in the United States (they have other lounges in the UK, but these are currently not part of the Platinum Card benefit). The Escape Lounges are located in the following Airports:
- Hartford Bradley International Airport (BDL) – Airside, near Gate 1
- Minneapolis–Saint Paul International Airport (MSP) – Airside, Terminal 1, above the entrance to Concourse E
- Oakland International Airport (OAK) – Airside, Terminal 1, across from Gate 9, between Gates 8 and 8A
The lounges typically cost $45 to enter ($40 if you pre-purchase your pass online). The lounges feature a dining menu, and a bar menu with a selection of complimentary alcoholic beverages, with some premium items at a cost.
Okay, adding three lounges to Amex’s current Lounge Collection isn’t causing an extreme uptick in credit card applications, but there’s no doubt that any added benefit to the Platinum Card is a good thing – especially after some lukewarm responses to the increase in annual fee (with a few more benefits… that came with strings attached). While I don’t have any of the three airports on my upcoming travel schedule anytime soon, I’d definitely stop by to check it out. Now, if only they’d add their international locations to the benefit, that would really sweeten the deal.
