American Express has historically provided some great benefits to consumers to promote Small Business Saturday, earmarked for the Saturday after Thanksgiving and Black Friday, to encourage consumers to shop at Mom and Pop stores after lining up at big box stores for a $50 flat inch the day before.
In prior years, we’ve seen a credit of $10 after spending a certain amount, though the most generous was easily 2014, where card holders were given this credit up to three times per card. The exception to this was 2015, when no statement credits were issued to consumers, in an effort to focus American Express’ resources to the small businesses themselves.
This year, Small Business Saturday falls on November 26 (as expected), though this year’s promotion last much longer than just one day – earn double points on purchases on your eligible American Express credit card at registered Shop Small store from now through December 31! Register here.
This is a huge point-earning opportunity, since it allows credit card holders to earn double points for over 2 months!
A cap of earning points on $100,000 in purchases is in place, and is limited to only the primary card holder on the account, but even so, this is still a great deal. Each card must be enrolled individually on American Express’ website.
