Alaska, jetBlue and Southwest win best FF reward programs in the US

Who has the best rewards program that rewards their frequent fliers seeking reward redemption to reward their loyalty?

Alaska, for the second year in a row, apparently. They are followed closely by jetBlue and Southwest in second and third, respectively.

Note the absence of any of the ‘US Big 3’ in this list. Well, I suppose they are on it, just further down:

The full list of U.S. News and World Report‘s Best Airline Rewards Programs for 2016-2017:

  1. Alaska Airlines Mileage Plan
  2. JetBlue TrueBlue
  3. Southwest Rapid Rewards
  4. Delta SkyMiles
  5. Virgin America Elevate
  6. United Mileage Plus
  7. American Airlines AAdvantage
  8. HawaiianMiles
  9. Frontier EarlyReturns
  10. Spirit Airlines FREE SPIRIT

Its difficult to ascertain just went into this survey from US News and World Report – and indeed the publication has a rather dodgy history of putting out ‘sensationalist’ results in their rankings, but at the very least it is food for thought for the major carriers that their supposed ‘low cost’ competition is trumping them in a passenger segment that is traditionally reserved for higher yielding customers, aka those who give you the most revenue per year, aka those who are highest ranked in your rewards programs.

Horton and co at American, are you listening?
