Thomson Airways, in conjunction with Thomson Holidays, has announced a slew of new flights from regional UK airports to Dubai for the winter season.
Dubai has built themselves up to be a premier vacation destination for both the young and the old, the betrothed with or without family and a playing ground for young 20 somethings with disposable income.
This year the Emirate is due to open a staggering 4 new theme parks with 3 new SPG properties in the pipeline including a third St Regis location. A new Seaworld, a Bollywood Theme Park, Legoland and Warner Brothers Park are all set to open in the coming months, with finishing touches to an upgraded Ferrari World also almost completed.
Thomson Holidays will also begin cruse operations from Dubai, a new venture for them which should prove to be interesting- indeed Dubai has been named as the home port for the newest and biggest Thomson cruise ship dubbed ‘The Celebration’.
With all these massive additions to the scene, Thomson Airways will be introducing new flights not only from London Gatwick but from all over the UK – Cardiff, Manchester, Birmingham, Glasgow and Newcastle are all newly confirmed destinations and the schedule looks something like this:

All flights will be operated to the new Dubai World Central airport in Al Maktoum on 787 equipment, which makes sense due to being non slot restricted and also does not compete directly with Emirates flights from the same airports in the UK.
Its definitely interesting that a British charter airline would make such big forays into the Middle East given the negative press the region has received in recent months but it seems as though Dubai might be immune to this and remains a preferred destination for British tourists to head to escape the cold and dark winter days back home.
