Originally slated as an A320 route, Helsinki looks set to be launched as an A350 route by Qatar Airways.
The move will increase capacity by nearly 50% and offer a much more desirable premium offering in business class. The upgrade to the widebody also makes sense as the aircraft will be plying between two oneworld hubs and can offer Qatar passengers a gateway to secondary cities in Scandinavia with the airline already serving Oslo, Copenhagen and Stockholm, all Star Alliance hubs through SAS.
The schedule for the flights looks like this:
QR301 DOH 08:15 – 14:50 HEL
QR302 HEL 17:45 – 00:05 +1 DOH
The flight connects nicely to Qatar’s South East Asian departure bank in Doha, allowing for seamless travel to the likes of Bangkok, Manila, Singapore, Hong Kong, Jakarta and Kuala Lumpur.
The new Helsinki flight marks QR’s 4th A350 destination in Europe after Frankfurt, Dusseldorf and Munich.
