Well it was bound to come, wasn’t it? Already launched on the airline’s LAX and SFO flights, JFK becomes the third American destination to offer Premium Economy from Singapore by way of Frankfurt.
One of the newly reconfigured A380s will be put on the JFK run starting this fall, with a separated cabin featuring 36 seats in a 2-4-2 configuration (as opposed to 3-4-3 in Economy on the main deck of the A380). Premium Economy seats also feature added width at 19.5 inches and has a seat pitch of 38 inches – more akin to US airlines domestic first class on narrow bodies.
Further amenities include a (slightly) upgraded menu and the availability of champagne to premium economy passengers along with dedicated check in desks at Singapore, Frankfurt and New York. Priority baggage handling and increased baggage allowance of 77lbs is also offered for this class of service.
The new cabin also boasts full leather finishing, calf-rest and foot-bar for every seat, individual in-seat power supply, two USB ports, personal in-seat reading light, cocktail table and more stowage space for personal items.
Fares in Premium Economy start at….SGD 4,181 RT from SIN in the late fall. Is it worth it?
