PIA will be replacing all current A310 services to the UK with their newly leased A330-200 fleet that they have taken from Sri Lankan Airlines (as they themselves will downsize their European operations to just serving London Heathrow).
PK’s Airbus fleet is relatively old. It is understood that the cabins are poorly maintained and the hard product is considered outdated, especially in Business Class where a looping IFE system and slanted flat seats are currently on offer.
The newly leased A330 fleet will feature on demand IFE with HD screens and fully flat seats. It will also mark the introduction of a Premium Economy product on all UK routes, a first for Pakistan Airlines.
From the 14th of August this product will feature on flights to the UK from:
ISB x4 – Monday, Wednesday, Saturday, Sunday
LHE x3 – Tuesday, Thursday, Saturday
KHI x3 – Wednesday, Friday, Sunday
If they can achieve some semblance of consistency hardware-wise this might be a route to try in the future – we know that PK has some of the best (if not at times inconsistent) service around. And if you like flavorful spice food, the catering won’t disappoint either.
Is this a turning point for PIA’s services to Europe? With their new ex-Lufthansa CEO in place and running things, is this a marker for things to come?
